Park Ridge, N.J.—Kamal Asgar, Ph.D., a noted researcher in dental materials, died at his home here on July 8. He was 89.

Dr. Asgar retired in 1988 after nearly three decades in dental materials at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He was considered a leading researcher in the development of high copper dental amalgams and casting alloy compositions.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to any charity or organization in honor of Dr. Asgar.

The University of Michigan School of Dentistry created the Kamal Asgar Dental Materials Fund to commemorate Dr. Asgar’s decades of contributions in teaching and research at the dental school.
